Creating Gems from Wood with Artist Dave Bricco
My name is Dave Bricco, I am 69 years old and live in Eagle River. My passion started 40 years ago restoring driftwoods to their natural beauty for professional Master Taxidermists. I now make jewelry along with other items out of exotic woods from around the world. I take a piece of wood then sped hours sanding and polishing it until it looks like a gems stone, some people have called them Woodstone. Many people believe my pieces are stone until they hold them.
I bring everything needed to complete a Woodstone piece for all attendees. I will walk you through every step of this process. Because what I do take days to finish, I will prep pieces up to the finale steps that we will do together. All my pieces have a Tung Oil finish that takes 5 days, I will provide Tung Oil for everyone to take home and a .925 sterling silver tear drop pendant setting.
There is a $30.00 materials charge paid directly to the artist.
Registration deadline is Wednesday, June 4th.

“Hey Baby, What’s Shaping?”
designing, printing, creating collage with artist Jeanne Weymouth
I have been mad for color, art, paint, paper, textiles, and design since I was a child. Always ready to explore a new art technique, my primary goal is to have fun creating and making sure that my students do too. I am on this planet to whip up an endless variety of art projects; enjoy my precious family and friends; eat really good food; laugh a lot; and pet my sweet (and adorably willful) dogs. Amen.
In this class you will create stencils or other pattern making techniques, in order to gel print variations of a SHAPE you want to feature in your collage. (hearts, circles, squares, whatever sings to you)
After printing single prints or layers, you’ll cut elements of your printed work to create a 16” by 20” canvas board collage. This is a class for all skill levels as we explore the fun of repetition/variation, one of the fundamental principles of design, that brings unity and harmony to a piece of artwork. Andy Warhol did it. So can we!
Material list:
I have gel plates, brayers, paper and paints. If you have special papers or paints, or your own gel plate and brayer, please bring if you’d like.
There is a material fee of $5.00 for a 16” by 20” canvas board paid directly to the artist.
Registration deadline Wednesday, August 6th.

I enjoy working in watercolor, pastel, acrylic, alcohol ink, and mixed media. I continue to grow as an artist. Always experimenting with new techniques, and challenging myself with mediums that I haven’t used. I love sharing what I know with others by teaching classes throughout the Northwoods. For more information see my Facebook page Lisa Krueger at Oak View Studio. For questions about the class email me at oakviewstudio@gmail.com..

Plan on a full day of painting fun as we move from the background to center of interest, all while experimenting with this mysterious medium.
